Default racing with a auto.. --.--

Hey, i'm not familiar with racing with my auto. What i heard was goin to neutral and reving the engine..and then push it into drive and you'll burst. But, im wondering if there is another way to do so..Also..how do i burn out with an auto?..Sorry for these stupid questions

yank e-brake & floor it, just like a 5-speed... however, there is no reason to on street tires.

be prepared to get beat by 5-speed F22's

buy a manual. i can tell your auto transmission is going to be living a hard life.

5-spds use the e-brake too, otherwise the car will start rolling and the wheels will stop spinning.

agreed, get a manual if you can, or a manual tranny swap, you'll have a better shot at being competetive.

Dont put a auto tranny into neutral and rev it up then shift to 1st... i did that in an old camaro i had, and sparks flew out from under the car.. pretty funny tho.. and it was fun because it was a POS. But if you do that on a daily basis your tranny wont last long at all. if your low on cash start saving.. and wait for the auto to go, then do a 5spd swap.

My ebrake doesnt do anything. it barely holds the car still, when its idling the ebrake still lets the car roll... I havnt readjusted it yet after my rotor replacments.. dont really care to either. Burning out is a waste of street tire tread.

Leave it in drive, hold down the brake and bring the revs up a little, but if you refer to answer #1... dont race.

man u can race with a auto its fine u do loose about 8 percent horsepower to the wheels with a auto but when racing a manual the time it takes them to press in the clutch then switch gears then the gas again that takes time i know your saying not that much time but a auto shifts right away and they are always gonna be consitant im not saying a auto is better then a manual or anything like that but they are fine to race in just i wouldnt do that whole poping it into drive thing.

the time it takes a good driver to switch gears is WAY faster than it takes the slushbox to find a gear it likes, switch to another gear, then switch back and finally put the power down. honda AT's are POS.

also, 8% hp loss is 16 whp. 16 whp is an *** load of ponies...

Considering that the majority of you torque is going to be made in the lower rpm range, I would deffinately NOT rev high in neutral and then shift to drive in an AT. You will not get more pull, you will not get more power. When racing, a key factor is getting as much torque as possible out of the turns, and this is made mostly in the low rpms.
This is simply because once you are in the higher rpm range, the torque curve flattens out considerably.

Ok thats all fine and done, I drive a AT daily in Triptronics shifting mode or whatever. Bad-monkey you obviously havnt drove a AT 5th gen prelude because it doesnt take time to find a gear if your in the Sport shift mode. I do prefer manuals but my car came with a good price so I couldnt let it slide, eventually ill be doing a 5spd with this auto goes, but compared to my old camaro and dodge, honda has the best AT so far. pretty much all AT's are shitty but with this new shifting technology its not a bad way to drive daily.

to all manual biased ppl that hate AT's and havnt ever driven one in a 5thgen

there was an ad in either turbo or sport compact car saying they could build your honda tranny for racing. to be able to race in the quarter and get decent times you would need a high speed stall converter. it might be rough on the street though.

your kidding right...the 5th gen slushbox of a tranny..tiptronic....porsche makes a good one, but you need some cold water or something...dude why do you think 5th gn autos with bolt ons everywhere still run very high 15s...the ecu decides when to shift it, how high to take it ect..when you tap the tiptronic shifter it doesnt select the gear instantly like a 5 speed would, and i really hear those auto ludes ripping into second gear at the track putting all the power down btw that last comment was sarcastic

i've driven a sportshit auto before. it takes a good amount of time for the "tiptronic" to change the gear after you make the input. I could solve all of the relevant kinematic equations for the current motion of the car in the time it takes to actually get in gear. yes, it's that slow.

when you leave it in Automatic mode, the gearbox can't get out of its own way. floor it and it downshifts, lift a tiny bit and it upshifts, get back on it and it does the little flippy flop all over again.
