Default power dip/engine death

hi!
sometimes, at a varying point between 3k and 4.5k rpms, the engine dies completely, drops a couple of hundred rpms, and then comes back again. This only happens when very little throttle is applied (between 10-40%). At full throttle the engine functions perfectly.
Anyone know what might cause this? I allready checked the distributor and it seems allright.

My car is an 1998 euro spec ITR (b18c6) with J's intake, T1R 4-2-1 header, test pipe and hytech catback. I sometimes get ye olde test pipe CEL light.

Any ECU mods? (Hondata etc..)?
Do you have a A/F gauge?
Any other symptoms?

If it did this at 40% throttle and there was fuel, it would likely ignite when it hit your header. Do you hear anything strange or does it just sound like engine is completely off?

i have no other mods besides the ones i mentioned. there are no strange sounds either. the engine just looses power completely, drops a few hundred rpm's and then comes back as normal

when i think about it, i beleive the first time i experienced this problem was after a really really rainy day. im really lost here

as for the fuel pump, if that one was borked shouldnt i be experiencing problems at full throttle too? filter might be worth checking, even tho it was replaced fairly recently
