Just put my first mod on today, a cold air intake. Now that I'm suckin air I guess I need to be blowin better *that doesn't sound right....* Anyway i would love to hear some suggestions as to muffler size and brand that would be optimum for me. I like a good low growl, no high pitched whiney muffs.... Thanks!

 

If you don't mind the tip size the Apexi Dunk sounds decent.

 

if you are interested, i have a Blitz SR cat back exhaust for sale for $300 + shipping. used for 5 months. scrapes on the resonator due to speed bumps. muffler is in excellent condition. low tone(like greddy SP exhaust) and not whiney/buzzing sound. worked great for me.

 

I would focus more on getting a whole catback system rather than the muffler alone. The pea-shooter exhaust piping is still going to hamper power, especially if you plan on doing more mods to the motor...Either find a catback system for your car or get some custom piping made and match it up to a universal muffler. I like the 5Zigen Fireball axleback, personally, i have t on my car and its perfect...nice sound, not loud or ricey.

 

Exactly. It's not just about the muffler, it's a bout the exhaust system as a whole. You can either buy a good cat back, or you could make one, using a universal muffler and custom piping. I like the ES universal mufflers that can be found on http://www.jdmhondaparts.com.

As far as the piping goes, too big will give you too little backpressure and decrease your power. Too small will give you too much. Here's a guide to help you with your diameters: 1500-2000 cc engines= 2 inches; 2100-2500 cc= 2.25 inches; 2600-3000 cc= 2.5 inches. If you have a turbo, these numbers don't apply- go as big as you want.
