Default D16a1 coming soon

D16A1 coming soon to my 86 crx si.. the motor has 120K miles on it, from an 89 rs integra.. what upgrades can i get for this motor.. how high can i get the revs.. how much hp/torque can i get out of this motor and can it be made into a vtech...

Before you put the motor in, I would highly suggest that you change at least the timing belt, water pump, thermostat, and clutch assembly(if you weren't already planning on it). As far as upgrades, you can start with the usual I/H/E, and maybe an adjustable FPR. I wouldn't rev it beyond the stock redline, it would be useless. Unfortunately, you cannot convert the motor into a VTEC equipped one. Good luck!

thanks for all the info everyone, yeah adding oil every few days sucks ... ummm all these hick junkyards around here say they only have the block.. wtf.. anyone know of a good place to get one from? all the help is greatly appreciated... and btw my wittle 1.5 took a 2 door hyundai elantra with a body kit and a tip to school earlier tonight, lol hyundai fake hondas .. ah well

I have a D16a1 black top the one with the 7.2 value dome same as the JDM ZC dome value if your intrested here is my sale thread very clean and upkept very well, i'll let it go for 350.00 plus shipping thats with the trans and the half shaft/mid shaft no dizzy though. I need to make room.

Don't plan on using any FI its very hard to do with the early teg engines. On a lighter note the rods out of that engine are very strong! They are a high reving engine 7 or so is what my freind shifts his 88 teg at. I'm not sure about making this vtec most likey not worth the money.

P.s. Please correct me if I'm wrong so this guy gets the right information.

err... I ran a 180whp D16A1 for 2 years. It wasn't that hard.
