car makes weird noise while moving?
whenever i drive my car i find that it makes a very strong noise. i checked to see if the rotors were rubbing or if the dust shield was making contact with something turning but still nothing, i found on the back of my rotor there was some impressions from something rubbing it. so i took off the caliper and noticed that one of the little metal pieces that secure the brake pads in and noticed that one was hanging out a little funny. it decreased some of the sound but im still getting a weird noise that isn't stopping. i was wondering if something else could be wrong, i did notice that my knuckles that i got from a guy on here was severly rusted especially around the hub area. could these be so rusted that as they turn they create noise. just trying to eliminate some of this unnecessary road noise.

does this mean i have to do this instead of just replacing the wheel bearings?

That little peice is there to rub on the Rotor when the pads wear down. It there to let you know they need to Be replaced soon. But sadly most of the time They rub to early and destroy a Rotor. Just bend that piece up some more and see if that takes care of it.
Oh and You can replace the Wheel bearings. You need to Buy the Bearing, and then have a shop Press the old one out and the new one back in. ether way tho you still need to Remove the Steering knuckle.
But check the Brakes first im almost 100% sure thats youre problem. When my wheel bearing went bad my steering got sloppy. Check for Play up and down When you jack the car up. Leave the tire on and Wiggle it side to side and up and down. If it dosent move more than likely its not a Wheel bearing.

i know what piece you are talking about, maybe i didn't explain clear enough. you know the little metal pieces, more like clips that hold the brake pads in more securely while you wourk with them. just a little edge got turned up and was rubbing the rotor. im still fretting over this hub though. i swear, im never buying suspension parts off of people from the north.
