Default Tried Scratch X...not effective enough.

I have a rather large scratch on my R--left front fender--thanks to the mechanics at Acura. The good news is that it doesn't go to the metal. The bad news is that its a long and rather severe scratch in the clearcoat. I already tried Meguire's Scratch X--didn't do anything as far as I can see. Can anyone recommend a good "hand-applyable" scratch remover they they have had good results first hand with? Thanks guys!

Polishing Compound and a high speed polisher or....If you really confortable with WET SANDING...Don't wet sand if you've never done it. You can wet sand it, I'd just take back to the dealer and make them take care of it. But Polishing compound and a polisher will be the easiest, Don't press too hard with the polisher either, it will take off paint! call a Autobody place and get details.

Ive used Turtle Wax scratch remover and polish with very good results. Its only a few bucks and might be worth a shot.

Turtle Wax scratch remover? Maybe I'll give that a shot. Any other favorite brands of HAND APPLICATION scratch remover compound? Any help would be awsome guys. I really don't want to attack the paint again unless I can find a trusted brand among R owners...

I like Meguiar's #9 Swirl Mark Remover, which is a mild abrasive similar to their Scratch-X product. However, if this is a severe scratch - and it sounds like it is - you're going to need something more abrasive, like a polishing compound.

The fender has several minor scratches and one wider/longer one. I feel confident that with the right scratch remover and a clay bar I will be able to save the paint on my fender. Sounds like Meguire's # 9 works well. How deep of scratches do you think it can correct...only minor ones?

No pic at the moment. Didn't break the paint. Just the clearcoat...

If you can easily feel the scratch with the edge of your fingernail, I'm guessing you'll need something stronger than the #9. Of course, other than the few bucks it costs, it won't hurt to try it...

a clay bar won't do **** for ya in this situation man. For what you are describing, a few applications of scratch x should work. Ask this question on autopia.org (search first though). let us know how it goes.

Will do. By the way, I cannot feel the scratch with my fingernail. Its much smaller than that.

You should definetly be able to get it out then, if you can't get it out with another application of scratch x, post on autopia and there are some guys there who can definetly help you fix it 100%.
