Default buffing

When you buff a car...Are you suppose to remove the compound/polish with buffer or by hand?

Um, a buffer? When you buff a car you put the compound on the panel you are buffing, then yes, you use a buffer on the compound.

Just to make things clear...

Buffing is when you use the machine, a compounding or polishing pad, and either a compound or a polish. You work the product into the paint and when its become almost transparent, you take a MICROFIBER towel and buff off the remaining residue. One of the reasons another poster made mention of the fact that you can do more damage than good is because some people don't let the abrasives in the product break down, and then wipe it off, causing those abrasives to rub across the paint and put more marring in.

So, you work the product in with a buffer, and remove the residue with a MICROFIBER towel (don't use anything else!)

ok you don't HAVE to use a microfiber towel but some ppl swear on them but i dont see a noticeable difference, i usually jus use a terry cloth or cotton rag it jus has to be clean!! i also like to use a orbital buffer b/c they are safer and for the most part idiot proof. the "swirls" that you get from buffing is from when you wax the car in the sun or when the surface of the car is too hot, it also happens when you buff the wax to hard and you "burn the pain" you cause too much friction and it scuffs the paint. After you apply the wax let it dry it will become hazy you will be able to tell when it is dry (about 15-20 depending on the weather humidity, temp., ect.) you then use what ever cloth you decide to use and take the wax off in a circular motion. make sure you get all of the wax b/c if you miss a spot depending on the color of your car you will notice it later and it will be a pain in the a$$ to get off. if you have pin stripes or around door handles or emblems use a tooth brush to get the wax out from around them. best of luck
