integra vs. MKII 2.0T (vw)
im a vw guy i just want to know a few things about integra's.
btw, im not a honda hater, especially when they got *****
a local guy has an integra with a t3/t4 turbo kit on it. i dint ask him wich kit or brand.
but apparenly he's running 12lbs of boost and is making 350 to the wheels. he also says he's done interal work. is he bull$hitting? i would think that you could run alot more boost than that if you've done work to the internals. my crossflow tubo (94 vw GTI motor, 2.0L /w crossflow head in case your non-vw literate) can run up to 18lbs (rumored) on stock internals. on my motor, i have double stacked headgaskets and arp studs and i run 15lbs no problem on stock internals...
anyways, weather he is or not, im sure our power to wieght ratios are similar. my car weighs in at 1850lbs with me in it and 2 gallons of fuel.
anyways read this as i posted from the vw forum
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> the integra claims he has 12lbs of boost and ~350whp
im running a 2.0T at 15lbs exatly 235.7whp and 262.1 lbs tq
currently my car weighs in at about 1850lbs with me sitting in it. i dont know how much an integra wieghs.
here are my thoughts. he has a t3/t4, but it has some lag to it. it doesnt start to spool till around 3750-3800rpm. plus he has a 16v, so his low end is pretty shotty.
my car however, with the k26 max boost hits at around 2400rpm, and starts to spool around 2000rpm. plus on my 8v my torque stays pretty well throughout the rev.
along with that, i have a 9a tranny, close ratio, and off the line until 3rd gear i know i'll be ahead. however i dont know if i can keep ahead.
what do you guys think?
what are our power to weight ratios too? </TD></TR></TABLE>
i post this because im going to the track next friday and he wants to lay down $300

well you definitly have the weight of the car in you favor, you didnt post the year of the integra but just to throw a number out his car(if not completely gutted) would weigh anywhere from 2600 to 2800. its hard to say what really he has done as far as "internal" work, he could just have a block guard or it could be built, if it was built(rods, pistons etc) he could definitly run more than 12psi. as far as the race goes, i think it will be very interesting, if the integra is running regualar street tires hes not going anywhere to 3rd gear, if hes got drag radials and knows how to drive then you have your work cut out for you, unless you go grab some drag radials also. a friend of mine runs a A1 cabby 16v turbo with a saab t3, i know on regular street tires he didnt have any trouble hitting 12.8-12.9. i dont know if any of this will help you out or not but good luck, keep me posted with the results, like i said it seems like it will be a good race
p.s. i get to race the winner

i dont know what year or engine he has in it. but i know its a loaded integra, power everything, upgraded interior (or so i think). all i know about the engine is i he said he sleeved it with new pistons and rings. dont know about anything else, if there is anything else. he prably just replaced the the rod bolts and bearings along with it for all i know.
i've heard from alot of honda/integra drivers that they complain alot about lack of torque.
in my opinion torque wins races, hp sells bolt-ons. if he's running 350hp, what would be a ballpark range of his torque?
and btw my gti ran a 12.74@115.1on 13x8 hoosiers last week, however my 60ft sucked. i pulled a 1.89 60ft usually im in the low 1.8's.
i dunno tough call, i think i definately have the torque/wieght ratio, and no turbo lag, i think i can wing out the rest of 3rd-5th gear. its just past about 95-100 my car starts to get slow with all the drag, its not very areodynamic lol
