where is the airbag module or brain located?
It's not anywhere near the dash.
In a coupe, it's on the passenger side where the back seat passenger would be sitting. To the right is the plastic panel (the one where the speaker grill is attached to).
That entire panel has to be removed, it's a pain because it goes all the way back into the trunk. Right in front of the speaker is the airbag module. I'll see if I can find a pic for you.
EDIT AGAIN AGAIN
: No idea where it is on a sedan though.
EDIT AGAIN: I found the better pic. It's that grey box thing that the arrow is pointing at.

acutally that is the brain for the ABS
the brain for the air bags , is behind the radio area, there is a large yellow plug in it
it will be covered with a plastic case

this is the main plug that goes into the airbag module

follow the plug and you'll find the brain
all yellow colored plugs have to do with SRS
