Rattling noise after putting on my headers
After installing my headers, i started the car and when I idled to around 3-4rpm it started rattling like crazy. I was guessing that it was my cat. So i decided to buy a high flow cat, and after installing that, it stopped. That was 3 weeks ago. But now it came back. It doesnt rattle as much as it used to but you can hear a little rattling noise from first to second gear. Anyone ever had this problem? Need suggestions on what to do.
you got a high flow cat. a straight pipe. i have one. does the same exact thing. the straight pipe does that. first problem "your cat was fucked up" 2nd straight pipe does same thing. no biggy. straight pipe is supposed to rattle a bit
i have a 96 integra gsr that raddles everytime i hit around 3200 rpm. i was told that is was the cat. so i changed that and still did it. then i was told it was a heat shield so i took off all of my heat shields and that did not do anything. well the problem still exist and i have no #@$%$#% clue what it is. i was told maybe the a pipe. i guess the a pipe is a pipe within a pipe and that the inner one gets warped. but i have not had time to mess with it. hope that helps.

Did you put aftermarket headers or stock headers? I heard there was pipe within the stock exhaust manifold piping that breaks off after wear and tear, thus making that rattling noise. I hear putting on aftermarket headers solves this problem. Can anyone verify this?
same problem here boys....at first it was my resonator. apparently one of the welds must have come loose so i had 2.5" pipe put in to replace it. now when ever i shift i get a weird rattle sound and i was told now that its the baffle in the muffler (stock). so that sucks but those are a few places you guys could check. i still have all my heat sheilds and i know that this sound is not coming from that.

Worked for me, but I ALSO had a rattling heatshield. And there's other stuff that can possibly rattle in your car.
The A-pipe (going under the oilpan) IS a pipe-inside-a-pipe. Mine didn't break loose, because then it would rattle all the time. Instead it kinda warped or something. The inner pipe wasn't loose, but it moved too close to the outer pipe & buzzed against it at a certain RPM.
