1994 Honda accord High mileage maintenence
Hello,
Just wondering what kind of maintenance I should be doing/following at 122k miles (aside from oil changes every 3k miles), for the above car.

Timing belt, tensioner, idler, water pump, cam seal, crank seal, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, ignition timing, pcv, fuel filter, air filter, induction service, flush all fluids, and visually check your suspension pieces.

Exactly what your owners manual dictates. By now you should have had the A/C system flushed and cleaned, belts changed including timing, tune up items, water pump changed, radiator hoses replaced, and your auto tranny fluid flushed and replaced or your manual transmission oil changed. I have a 1994 and have only done the regular maintainence items as dictated in the manual and I'm approaching 170/k miles without trouble.

You bought it used, ok... Do you have the maintenance record for it? Most importantly is if the timing belt was changed at around 90k or so. Find out asap and replace if it was not done as soon as you can before you blow your engine. As others have stated, follow Honda recommended service. You can go online to Honda's website to get the info or call a dealership.

Well, like Escabor already stated timing belt, balancer shaft belt, tensioner spring, crank seal, cam seal, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, pcv, fuel filter, air filter, all fluids, valve adjustment, maybe a tire balance/rotation/alignment, ect. Since we already talked about how your somewhat local to me and I said I can help you if you'd like, I have a Helms manual and special tool to do the timing belt and I did all this stuff to my Accord like 6 months before I totalled it. I'm also about to do all this to my Civic before winter comes. So if you do decide to do this stuff I can come guide you through stuff you don't know how to do. I would let you do it though, the best way to learn is to do it yourself. Experience is better than anything you can ever read. Don't get me wrong, reading does help but doing things yourself is the best way of learning. Anyways, let me know if you do.
Also, check your brakes. You'll quickly find out that changing the front rotors are a PITA. But that can be changed by converting to CL hubs and matching rotors. You'll also find out that the fuel filter is another hard one. I changed mine when I had the motor out of the car, I don't want to know how hard it would be with the motor still in there. With the right tools though it is possible.

Where would be a good place to have these things checked/replaced and what would be the approximate cost?

Okay looks like I can no longer get ahold of the guy that gave me the car, is it possible to visually inspect the timing belt to see if it is okay? It definitely seems tight and untorn, also it is does not have the honda brand name on any of the belts.
If you don't have a non-factory Honda mechanic that you have a trusted relationship with, go with a Honda dealership. A timing belt change will go $550+. A full inspection such as a 60k or 90k type will be a few hundred.

There really is no way of looking at a timing belt and seeing if it looks worn or not. Even though a timing belt might look good it could snap the next day. The best thing to do is to replace it if it's mileage is unknown and your car has 122K. It's probably going to cost more in the end if it snaps. You could have bent valves and such. Well you know I will have to do it myself then. How hard will it be and what do you think it will cost? I should also probably replace the water pump.

I just recently priced out what I would need to do this same thing to my Civic and with almost the same parts list I came up with around a 250 total from Majestic and another 30-40 from my local dealership for fluids and an oil change. Thats all Honda Genuine parts, like I said I'm very picky about what parts go on my car.

That actually doesn't sound so bad for the cost of parts, since I have a little to play with for maintenence on the car. I knew I was kind of taking somwhat of a gamble on this car, but it seemed pretty good carfax good, fluids good, interior/exterior clean. I really needed a vehicle and had already saw 12 other private sales that looked 10x worse.
So I went for it.
