Default skunk2 intake manifold hoses question (searched)

ive searched but havent found the detailed answers after over an hour. when i installed my im, the fpr plugged into the the nipple above the number one runner and then the evap purge hose and pcv hose were left over with only one plug on the manifold left. i t'd them together but my idle and milage have suffered since and ive lost some oil as well. im wondering if the fact these 2 systems are t'd together would cause them to possiblely "fight" each other and not allow them to work properly. if any of you have done this install on your b16 let me know what you did about this. ive considered just plugging the pcv hose and leaving it but i dont know if that will hurt my motor.and heres another possible stupid question, since the pcv system stores and adds oil back to the motor could you just run it back to the crankcase? thanks for your help

you should be able to t them together with no problem. Also about your pcv system it doesnt sotre it it burns it up. thats why its put into your intake manifold so that it can be added into the combustion cycle of the engine. There shouldnt be any fighting going on because both parts would be seeing an identical ammount of vaccum and each one flows in only one direction. Dont run the pcv back into the crank case. Its trying to get rid of that stuff for a reason. I think youre either just now paying attention to the mileage and oil issue or its a paranoia thing. Dont worry about it.

hrmm yeah your right that would be serious. You dont have any visible signes of a leak though? pcv and purge both deal with vapors so its extremely unlikely that either of those would be the issue. in fact its 100% not going to be the purge.

yeah i know its not the purge but the pcv is what im thinking bc there is oil in the hose from the valve to the manifold, which there should not be im wondering if a can just t the pcv to thehose coming off the evap canister that vents to the atmosphere

You have another problem. You CAN "T" those together. You have to do the same thing on an ITR manifold with a b16. If you are consuming that much oil you have a leak. I don't even think bad rings could consume that much oil!

i didnt say you cant I just said you shouldnt. Otherwise all you would be doing is recycling all those vapors, which are designed to be burned up, back into the valve cover and recycled again and again and again into the system. youd be better off disconnecting the entire thing and let a hose hang there from the pcv valve.

Monicle - I wasn't trying to call you out on that. I was just saying it really shouldn't make any difference. Both lines have nipples on the b16 mani. When you put the Skunk or the ITR mani on, you are a nipple short. Teeing off the last nipple should not affect the way the car operates. Especially to the extent of bleedblues problem with oil consumption.

so do you guys have anyother ideas what it could be. the car runs fine then i go to idle and its ok for a few secs, then the rpms drop to 600ish, and it gradually begins to smoke

very little blue, mostly white. not loosing coolant though. i thought it may be from a rich condition bc ive had that happen before but if i cut back the fuel on the vafc at idle it wants to die. very weird
