Default rattling from the bottom end

when i start my car and im siting next to a wall or something for the sound to bouce off of, i can hear what sounds to be a rod ratteling. but after i drive it i cant hear it anymore. and if i pop the hood and listern i cant hear it from the top. its very weird and not very loud. but my warranty on my jdm motor just expired so now im kinda paranoid. my buddys 99si kinda did, but not nearly as loud. does anyone else ever notice this or is this just kind of a honda thing. i dont know. and theres no metal in the pan or anything like that. just kinda worried. anyone?

i have the same problem on my crv for some reaso nat cold starts i hear minor knock but once the motor is warmed up it goes away...and ive check everything under the hood... hopefully its nothing major " actaully i kinna do .. makes me have a reason to sleeve the b20 and build it for a bit more power LOL"

ive also read that it might be a spun rod bearing too :\

well....i hope that its not a spun bearing. but i would think that for as long as its been doing it and as many times as its been to 7500 rpm. it wouldve left the pieces on the ground.

my z6 does this too some of my friends think its a bad crank bearing, but it drives normal and hasnt had any problems at 7500 rpm, etc? it kinda sounds almost like a pulley noise but they are all aligned and tight, Im kinda paranoid too

I have the same problem. But mine is the heat shield. I don't have the bottom half around my cat and the top half is rattling. I also heard it could be the cat itself. Don't know if there is any truth to that though.

the wrist pin is what connects the rod to the piston. you need to pull the motor apart for that
