Help me determine which axle is busted
Sup guys, whenever i make a sharp or slight left turn i hear this loud ticking rotational sound, but when i make a sharp right turn i hear the same thing. I figured it would be the axles so i checked them and they both have some play. about 5mm in and out, not much. Now which axle is busted or are both shot? Or is it something worse? Please help me out thanks
is one really messy with grease everywhere?
usually they don't click unless the boot is torn and grease is thrown out of the joint. look real close to see if a boot is torn.

ive gone through 6 axles in 2 years, from experience, when you hear a clicking sound when making a left turn, its the passenger side axle. In your case it is best if you just change both.
usually when one axle goes, the other is not too far behind. replacing both wouldnt be a bad idea, but if you only want to replace one, i would see which one has the ripped boot, cause that is probably the bad one. you really cant judge by play, because the nature of the inner cv joint allows a few inches of in and out play right from the factory
my bad i shouldve mentioned this earlier, but both boots are intact, they are reman axles and ive had them on my car for about 10 months

intersting. are you putting down alot of hp? i only use autozone reman. axles cause they come with lifetime warranty? if you have a warranty on yours, might as well change it

Was driving on a curved road which curved to the left. Had some slight knocking & vibrating. While the weight was shifting to the left, I decided it had to be the right axle that was bad. Replaced it. All was fine. When my left was going bad, it only happened on right turns, when weight was shifted to left side. Replaced that and all was fine again.

It doesnt sound like the axles are the problem to me
maybe you got a rock in your calipers?
idk</TD></TR></TABLE>
its your axles, my last set was doing the same thing, ticking sounds when turning. the cv boots were all intact, BTW they were pep boys remanufactured so they come with lifetime warranty. after i replaced both, no more ticking

Correction:
Was driving on a curved road which curved to the left. Had some slight knocking & vibrating. While weight was shifted to *RIGHT* side, I decided it had to be the right axle that was bad. Replaced it. All was fine. When my left was going bad, it only happened on right turns, when weight was shifted to left side. Replaced that and all was fine again. Heh, oops.

all good dude i knew what you meant
well i thought id try and figure out which axle was bad, i replaced the right side (passenger) first and took it for a spin. the loud *** ticking when i turned left was gone. when i made a slight right turn i would hear some ticking but not as bad as before. So i replaced the left one also and now the car is all good. So ticking on a left turn means the right axle is bad and right turn means the left jus like some of you said. thanks for the help guys
