Default Headers & firing order

I haven't been getting any intelligent criticism / discussion in the integra forum, so I thought I'd show you this thread I've got started with no answers. Please check it out and throw in some input! (Discussion of the relevance of collecting order & fire order).

Try looking around (search function) on ENDYN BBS.

I know why the Hytech works better, but hard to explain, he is my shot at it though.........

The header makers think they are building a V8 design with 1-4 and 2-3 paired. The problem is with a 4 cyl the pulses end up too far apart. After #1 dumps out gases the pulse will have stopped and reversed by the time #4 dumps gases out. The 2 pulses meet which is not good for flow.

With the 1-3 and 2-4 pairing, #1 gas pulse will still be heading downstream when #3 dumps gases and will help scavenge it better.

Now the secondary tubes do the same for each other. The #4 and #2 pulse will scavenge the other secondary tube, which helps scavenge #1.

Hope this helps. I read about it 17 years in a V8 builders guide.

Just on of those things when you finally figure it out, you smack your head against the wall and go DUH!

I just don't have the $$$ for one of John's headers.

Hmmm.. seems like some sort of travesty that I can find only 1 company that is building headers with a 1-4 2-3 arrangement!! Anybody know of any other companies than hi-tech that makes headers in this arrangement?

Though I think that there still has to be a good reason why all the companies are going in the manner they do! I wonder what DC Sports has to say on this. Probably "well we did dyno testing and bla", but I wouldn't believe it unless I saw another header with the 1-4 2-3 arrangement that makes awesome power...

Ease of building and cost to build.

So you think all header manufacturers are just following whatever the guy before them did and scamming us out of a better product? Makes sense until you consider JUN.

takes alot or trial and error to perfect.

Do some research on ENDYN BBS. Alot of info is there.

BTW never said you had to purchase the products from them, but the info is dead on!
