[rant]Damn Fuel lines!!! one headache after another [/rant]
so 5 months ago i was at sams house. Lang and I are changing out the fuel filter on my car and i realized that an angled crows foot is NOT a ratchet and cannot be used as one
for not thinking.
so we consult Anthony who tells me to make a temp fix with rubber fuel hose and hose clamps. ok, sam jacks a pipe cutter from his dads store and I am off. get it all done and then i go on deployment.
so for 5 months the car sat with fuel in that makeshift line only getting driven by my roomate once a week. oh and he was nice enough to turn up the fuel pressure since i was running lean
so now here is what is wrong with the car.
God aweful rattling noise.
shadetree fuel line
code 61 (primary o2 sensor)
running lean or rich... depended on the cars mood
so i get back from deployment and find a puddle of fuel under the car. well **** its time to go order a new line. call Len only to find out there is one left in the country and it is claimed. now im on back order.
for some reason last night i got a hair up my *** and did a photoshoot with my boy Jeff and his Jetta. if you look in the red circle you will see a nice puddle. the car was running and we were watching the fuel pour out of the hose.

earlier that day i drove 34 miles and it took only a half a tank of gas
so this afternoon once i woke up i went to the shop and put the car on the lift and this is what i see.

after cleaning it up and being lucky enough to shimmy that line on farther until i get the real line in, i tightened the hose clamps as much as my weak *** could without breaking something more.
now it looks like this.

i also blew out the o2 sensor and now my codes are gone!!! w00t w00t!
so now everything is working good thank god and the car is getting its normal MPG.

to the fuel leak. I remember seeing that pic lastnight and being damn happy it wasnt me. At least the fuel wasnt leaking directly on to your exhuast otherwise you would have been taking pictures of your car on fire. Nothin like a CAR-B-Q at the 7Eleven. lol Glad you got it figured out

my fuel line busted too. I used a tube cutter and pretty much did what you did with pgmfi hose. Did you flare the ends of the line that are going into the rubber hose? Flaring it will make it more secure in the rubber hose almost eliminating your chance of a leak.
You can get a flare tool almost anywhere for about $15. Infact your friends dad's store probly has them.
