Honda Stock or Kyoba Struts?
I have a 93 Accord with 150K miles. Specialist only installs Honda struts. Total cost 600 dollars. Another shop will install KYB for same price.
Which one if better, with price being the same?

You can buy the shocks from the Honda-Tech classified section for very cheap from our great sponsors. And then save a ton of money and do it yourself. Just go rent (usually for free) a spring compressor from autozone and if you have some basic ratchet tools you can do the install. The installation itself is VERY easy, just takes maybe 1-4 hours depending on your mechanical skill. There is also a write-up of how to do shocks/spring install for the honda somewhere in the forums.. do a search and you'll find it.
I would suggest replacing the springs while you are at it (eibach prokit or sportlines your choice) and you will enjoy the ride alot! It will be like a new car... if you want to get crazy strap on an anti-sway kit and an upper strut bar and go tackle some curves
If you want to wait a while omnipowerusa.com (basically the same engineer who made the nice skunk2 suspension) will be coming out with full coilovers for the accord for around $650.
But to answer your question, if you are keeping your stock springs you might want to get stock shocks because the new kyb shocks might have a differnet damper setting that will not match your spring rate. It all depends on what you are looking for... stiffer ride or smoother ride...

i guess that all depends on what kind of ride you want, huh?
KYB GR2's are roughly the same as OEM, which means you probably won't be able to tell much difference in ride quality. If you are not going to lower your car or go with stiffer aftermarket springs, I'd probably say to just stick with OEM struts.

600 for just struts???? your wallet is hurting.......unless your plannin on changin the springs as well then change the struts to aftermarket. If your keepin your stock springs then go for the stock struts. You can find spring/shocks for great prices on here or just look on ebay. I got my KYB AGX for 307 shipped
Do I need to change springs too when I change struts? The mechanic did not suggest this to me. How often do you normally change springs?

You do not need to change your springs unless you want to make your ride stiffer and handle better. The springs on cars are made to last a lifetime of the car with normal driving so NO you dont change your springs. HOWEVER since this post is about shocks/struts. I wouldnt go with KYB AGX or stock ones. I think they are not as good as ppl think they are. Best shocks for your accord within the budget would be Tokico's illuminas, or regular non-adj tokicos. KONI makes an awesome shocks too with lifetime warranty. YOu can get either red or yellow depending what you want to do with your car. I've had stocks and i've had kyb's and my next ones would defentely be Koni Yellows.
How can you give advice about koni's without ever owning one? What was so bad about the KYB's?
I've personally have had KYB AGX's and they have served me great. (autox and street applications for me) The contruction quality was superb and it offered great adjustability.

I'm recommending koni yellows to him since that what my friend has on his rsx. They are great and it will be my next buy. As far as agx's go.. they are all right but I wouldnt buy them again.
