I just finished my D15B VTEC swap, and I also purchased an S20 Tranny at the same time. I thought that this was supposed to have better gearing than the stock D15B7 tranny, but it seems like the gears are WAY longer. At 70mph in 5th gear my tach only registered like 1800 RPM's and there wasn't much power, while in 4th gear at 70 MPH I was only at 3000 RPM's. WTF? Is this right? TIA

 

look near the axle....closest to the firewall ont eh driver's side axle. There should be either a P20/A000 or P20/B000 stamped into the casing. You want to have the B

 

somethings wrong in fourth at 70 im at like im way higher than that

What's the difference gear wise? And do you know what car each of those tranny's come from? Thanks....

 

B000s are EX/Si...A000 are CX/VX/DX/LX. The speeds should tell you the ratio, too.

that's what i thought. Bastard's. I already talked to them & they were not very reasonable..........they pretty much flat out told me that if I shipped that tranny back i would be responsible to pay shipping there & back for a new tranny, plus a processing fee of some sort. This bites.

tell them to shut the **** up or you will get somebody on their case..don't know for what but you can sue for anything these days

 

who did you buy the swap from?

what company sells the most motors to HT ? If you can answer that, you have answered your own question.......

On my LX/DX tranny, at 70mph I'm at 3,000 RPM or - 100 RPM.
