Any specifics on how the motor blew?

h22 does fit.
5spd - you'll need:
shifter assembly
shift linkages
flywheel
pressure plate
slave cylinder
pedal assembly
pedal
new brake pedal
clutch line
guage cluster if you really want to have the full manual feel.
i think that's about it.

buy it.
just replace the longblock with a JDM h22A for $1000 to get the car on the road.
then you can do the MT swap when you get the time and money. at least that's what i would do. b
ecause I'm a cheap bastard.
then i'd flip it on eBay and double that small investment (car + longblock) when i sold the car.

i dont couldnt see the engine cuz hood wont open but my friends bro told he didnt take care of the engine real well causing the engine to "explode"? so i will definitely want to replace the whole engine/tranny to be reliable.
and the parts you listed they can come as a whole set? how much to switch from auto to -> tranny? and how much would h22a/tranny run at junkyard or professional wholecost place that give 1yr warranty or so?
thank you guys for responding promptly

If it is ringlands (face it guys, it is an h-series) then there is a chance that the block could be salvaged, depending on how badly the sleeves were damaged (if at all). If little to no damage exists, you might be able to get away with a factory overbore and new pistons/ringlands. If he wants to make it "trick", he could have the whole block built (including sleeves). As for the trans swap, you can probably find a swap package. Give the H-Motors people a call and see if they sell it. I know there are SR20 specialists that do it for 240sx auto-shells, I'm sure there is a Honda company that does it to.

Just goto https://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/home.htm and buy all the parts stated above. Im pretty sure they have the cheapest prices on brand new oem parts.

Can't overbore the FRM cylinder liners in the H-series blocks like you can in the b and dseries with factory iron sleeves. You'd end up with plain aluminum cylinder walls.
If the scratches are deep enough to require sleeving, it'd probably be just as cheap to replace the complete shortblock with a good used one.

I know at least 3 people who have gone .010/.25mm over
It can be done... Just takes a special honing process to clean up the bore...

true. i forgot you can skim just a little (up to 0.25mm overbore) with those damn FRM liners. then buy new OS pistons.
but not like a small block chevy, haha. i've got one that's overbored 0.125 inches! I could only wish that Honda motors were that forgiving.
But still, gouges deeper than .125mm will not come out, even with the .25 overbore. I don't even know if .125mm will catch a fingernail, but I wish i had a micrometer to measure the scratch depths of the H23A1 on the stand in my garage.
It broke 2 rods, and will DEFINITELY require resleeving to take those scratches out.
but yeah, rebore as required, as long as you use the 600 grit stone in the finish honing process and don't go over 20 passes per cyl (per pg 7-18 of factory service manual). Also, above you meant 0.10 right? not 0.010? because the Helm specifies you are allowed to take off up to .020mm of metal just during the honing process
