Default Header ?'s

What should i torque my new header bolts down to once i get it? also its a kamikaze header, it doesnt have a gasket with it, the OEM exhaust manifold 1 will be fine? i think my honda dealer wants like 45 bucks though. thnx

You can re-use your existing header gasket... As far as torque specs, I'm not too sure... But grab a HELMS manual and all the info you need should be there... Good Luck...

well i read alot on H-T and from wat i read its basically never re use a gasket. i guess i could use a litle honda bond. oh yea btw its a 97 dx (d16y7) and im replacing my FUCKED EM thats defective by honda. so i dont think keepin that gasket is good? correct me if im wrong aiight. thnx

how many miles do you have? I just had my stock mani/cat replaced for free because Honda extended the wrty. I think it up to 125,000 miles for the 97's?? Mine's a 99 and the wrty is for 8 years 80k miles.

My Helms says 23lb-ft of torque for your Y7.

you should at least re-seal the gasket with some kind of gasket sealer

Same here. You don't need any kind of sealer, it's a metal gasket. As for your dealer wanting $45 for a new one, sounds like he's trying to rip you off. I installed my header about a month ago, and I bought a gasket just in case. I paid $23 Canadian for it, but I returned it afterwards cuz I didn't need it.

And 23ft/lbs is right.

list price on the exhaust manifold gasket is ~$12 US, you can get one from
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com for $9 US cheap insurance if you ask me

The exhaust manifold gasket is a re-usable one. I have re-used mine 4 times...stil doesn't leak.
