Default Autometer Speedometer install on CRX

I am replacing the stock gauge cluster in the crx and I am trying to figure out what I am going to need for installing the autometer 3 3/8" speedometer. Will I need to get an electric vss (probably not the correct name..lol) or anything like that? Anyone done this install that can help me out?

I talked with a tech rep at autometer but of course he was clueless about imports and wasn't any help at all!

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

You're fabricating your own gauge cluster? If so, lets see pics.. I've been thinking about doing the same thing with some aluminum. I just need the speedometer and tachometer, and coolant temp gauge for mine. If its an electric gauge, yes you'll need to install a VSS where your cable plugs into the top of your tranny.

you can also use the cluster out of a 94+ integra for a panel....2 1/16th and 3 3/8 gauges fit with just a little bit of boring in the existing holes...you will probably need and elec vss...but i do know that they have a few different models of gauges for different cars..just make sure you have the right info before you buy your stuff...an electric vss from a newer civic/integra will fit in your tranny and you can check the voltage range in a helms manual for the donor car...give that info to the autometer guys and they should be able to find the right one....are you using the fuel gauge/coolant gauge too?...i am starting to do the same thing but i have not been able to find what i want yet...

LSVTEC - Yeah, I'm pretty much rebuilding the dash out of fiberglass. I've gotten a couple of my gauges so far and I was waiting to figure out what I need to get with the speedo before I order the rest.

lsrex212 - Good info on the integra panel. Yeah, I replacing all the gauges with the 2 1/16, volt, coolant, oil pressure and fuel. The fuel gauge I haven't order yet, but the tech told me that the closest one was the one for the ford. I can't remember right off which one (ohms etc) that was right off...but I can dig through my notes later if you need the info. He said, it would be slightly off at empty, but it would error to the positive as in still having plenty of fuel left.

KaoticSnow - I'll post up some pics.

Thanks for the replies! If anyone knows the exact models I can ****** a vss from I'd appreciate it. And also, I'd probably still use the current cable?

The factory speedo cable plugs into the back of the autometer gauge without any modification. however, it IS largely inaccurate, as when you are going 60mph, you're only traveling 50-55mph.

function > fashion

and the goal was to put a fuel gauge in the dash cluster as well...just haven't cared enough to do so.
