Default Dynoed again 00' vs 01 .......for even more bad news!

My last time at the dyno (this past friday) I hit 175/125. I know, not the greatest considering my mods. Well, today a friend of mine(talkie25) wanted to dyno his car so we both met at the dyno. He got his 2-3 baseline runs (nice results for his mods) and I decided to do two pulls for the hell of it. The weather was much nicer today and the car felt a little better...........The dyno didn't think so!

Last Friday's run: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=96023
My mods again: BLUE
01' ITR 15k miles
AEM CAI
JDM DC 4-1
Test pipe
Toda Spec A
Toda Cam gears (+4/+2)
Bored throttle body 64.5mm at the plate/70mm at the opening
AEM adjustable fuel pressure regulator (40 psi)
Timing 18 deg
Did a compression test before the dyno and was at 240 accross all 4

Future mods:
I will have a skunk ecu and vafc shortly.

Talkie25 mods: RED
00' ITR 22Kmiles
AEM CAI
JDM DC 4-1
SMSP CAT
SMSP B pipe adapter
Bored throttle body 64.5mm at the plate/70mm at the opening
Timing 18 deg
Magnaore wires and non-stock plugs (don't remeber which)

So, it isn't bad enough that I lost hp since the last run, but I am making less power than a car with fewer mods...Go figure I need some serious tuning!

Damn S & P, you should sell the Toda A's and go with the JUN 2/ITR exhaust combo, i love mine. these are my mods:

Jun 2 intake cam
spoon drop in filter
JDM DC 4-1
test pipe
PYR ECU
CLIPPED to OBD1
AEM cam gears

thats it for now. I baselined at 167hp, and 113tq stock, and it pulls alot harder now, ill go to the dyno either this weekend or next

*hint* Jun 2 intake cams will be in within a month.

Glad to see both of you guys could make it out there. Dustin It looks as though your car needs some SERIOUS tunning. I would look into getting that ECU, put that bitch back on the dyno and I think you will be a little bit happier with the results. Just hope I don't start influencing Mike or you could have some serious competition on your hands JFWY. I think mark needs to re-dyno his car at Rollo's too and see what he can pull.

Not going to sell out on the spec A's just yet.. I need to do a back-to-back cylinder compression test with my car and mikes to see how far off our numbers are. If they are way off, then F' it, I am putting high comp pistons it! j/k I just have to play with the cards that I have been dealt.

You just need to tune. I would think you will see better numbers then.

Hey Dustin,

Where are your fuel pressure, cam timng and ignition timing set?

Have you taken a close look at Mike K's Great Cam Test and tried his TODA A settings? That stuff makes all the difference in the world.

Ya got nuthin' to lose!

John

No I don't think so I think it just needs to be tuned
There was a dyno chart on there last week with spec A's making over 200whp but it was vary well tuned

Yes, TUNING IS EVERYTHING.
That is where the power is going to be made.

with just a JDM DC and test pipe and stock intake/stock exhaust I was at 164/122, which isn't too bad

It's the weather in Seattle. The rain has a funny way of dropping your numbers.

I doubt this makes much of a difference but Dustin forgot to mention that i have a Comptech flywheel. Oh yeah and the plugs i got from Mike K. NGK copper O.E. Thanks Mike!

BTW, Dustin's car is not tuned at all. i expect at least 180 with his setup. I am thinking of the VAFC for my car. is it worth it? I also have the JDM FD/Exedy clutch coming in this week as well. Can't wait to get it installed!

I think you ITR guys are taking the numbers to heart too much. All cars are going to have variances from the factory. These variances will be especially apparent on a car where the motor had an extensive amount of hand assembly like the ITR...

Remember everyones engine is different, You can have 5 ITR's of the same year that all came off the production line one after another and they will all put out different #'s, Ross1013's car is putting down 173Whp with just a Comptech Icebox. Stock everything else.
When modding the car though Tuning is key, LOL When we did a quick baseline with my car with 12.3:1 and C's it was only at about 150whp although that was our first run without ANY tuning and only up to about 6K rpm. after minor tuning to the fuel it was still only 180, going to finish it up tommorow and hopefully should be putting down about 200-210, more with further tuning and part swapping.

tuning is the key in you're case. you should be getting way better numbers than that with your setup !

I can personally vouch for Dustin and say that he has Toda Spec A's in his car because i saw the stock camshafts at his house. Also, i would bet a lot of money that the installer knows his **** because he got it done at TopSpeed here in FL. They do good work. He just needs to tune it all. Sure the spec A's will give you a litte power from dropping them in but tune them and i suspect that he will get to 180whp easily. just my .02

Bring this car to John Brown my tuner to Boca Raton, Fl and I guarantee you that the numbers will be higher. Get his ecu and apexi vafc and I promise you eye opening results. Dude, He still produced 460+hp@wheel in my car using 370's, apexi and his ecu , so there is something back him up. Trust me, don't spend your money on any more dyno. Buy the ecu and apexi and call me 954 857 5639, name is Sherbaz.
