I haven't personally done it but one of my friends here owns a honda/acura service shop and does it pretty frequently... He said that Civic's are easy as hell for him (takes him a couple hrs). I was asking him about swapping my bros teg to manual and he said that it would be a lot harder because apparently for civics everything is where it needs to be and not a lot of headache if you know what your doing.. And by the way he charges like 250-300 for the swap on civics FYI.... Hope this somewhat helps

lol, that's what i was thinking <shaking head, rolling eyes>..

in terms of diy, it's not an install I'd recommend without someone there who has done it before.. I know u gotta start sometime, but with the tegs, I'm staying away from it.. I told one of my boys to just sell his '94 LS auto and spend $3k on a manual gsr.. He was talking about motor swap, etc. etc..

If u do get this done at the guys shop, tell him $XXX is too much money, but u are willing to pay it if he tells u how to do it.. And then hook us up.. good luck man

Yeah but I think that 2-300 bux is pretty cheap for labor considering the job.... I mean it's probably not as simple as say an amp install. Course my lazy *** would probably just pay it so I wouldnt have to put up w/ any headache's along the way

are you just switching the tranny, or are you doing an engine swap at the same time?

i'm going from a/t 94 civic w/d16z6 to jdm 95 b16...taking out all the a/t stuff is a breeze, wiring is a pain, changing the pedals is a pain.

email me for specifics, pics, etc.

i was going to do that to my 93 civic coupe...dropped the engine in and didn't work...why??? because there is no clutch wiring...and another thing is that the tranny mount is an automatic mount..you need to weld another mount..a manual mount...how you can tell the difference you might ask??? the automatic lays slanted up..the manual tranny mount lays straight...

Place racing makes a adapter plate for the auto to manual conversion.

Hey Hey,
I have done 2 trany swap in my life, one on a Crx and the other on my one car, a 1991 civic, dx, that was a damn Sh|t automatic trany, so I bought the car in mind to swap the engine and the tranny, I have to tell that te biggest part of the job was to put the damn Pedals in place, Don't forget that this is a compact car, you will have to moove thing a bit around the air duct and other thind like cable or brake swith, then it's not a troublle to put the cable, the hole is already drilled, but on your year, Clutch is hydrolic ( wich you know this) you will haveline to passe all around the hood. then the damn, wiring for the Cristmas tree in the dash, this **** suck because it's relied on the computer, (remember that if you are on drive the car won't start), If any one know how to get up with the computer tell me, I dont have this problem because I swaped the engine too for a sohc vtech, and then the computer. Good luck dude, it's not a big contract to swap this out but Wsh you love mecanic!
