I did a rear disc brake swap on my 98 sedan.. the whole trailing arm assembly is from a 94+ integra. I put Omni Power adjustable rear upper control arms on as well. The tires seem to be rubbing quite a bit now though. It's lowered 2.25" in the back. Any suggestions as to why it might be touching now?

What is the camber you have on the rear? is it set to zero? What tires are on the car?

 

adjust the camber kit! or grind off the lip on the rear quarter panel.

 

Camber isn't set to zero. I haven't gotten it aligned yet. Just guessed. It may be too positive. Wheels are straighter now though! Negative camber is gay. Lol. The tires are pretty wide (for my rims at least). My rims are 15x6.5", the tires are 205/50/15.

My guess is the camber is too positive right now, need to reel it in a bit. What do you guys think?

 

Your sidewalls are too wide. Try 195's. On my g/f's EJ1, it rubbed at every turn with 205's. Switching to 195's was much better.

Also, don't grind off any part of your rear quarter panel. Just don't mess with it. It's better to just adjust your suspension the right way.

 

The 205's fit before the car was lowered...and before I put the new brakes on... I'd much rather keep 205's than 195's...road racing likes the wider tires. Any suggestions? Or is my only hope basically to go to 195's?

I know this, I was planning on getting it aligned professionally at Firestone.. Just wondering how I can fix the problem temporarily.. Still working on getting the front brakes swapped out for integra brakes first ....

 

ya mine did the same dam thing, it was so bad, the tire was rubbing the wheel well all the time and smoking, it happin in the rear right, just jack up the car, and move the rear likes, all the way in, so the tire isn't hitting the rear q well, thats what i did, i had to, becuase i love the tuckin look

 

I don't think the tires are too wide. I have 205/40R17 on my Civic with 17x7.5 wheels. I think my rear is only at most 2" lowered.

 

BTW after i got it alined, it was fine, u have 2, i would make sure u can bring it to a shop that will aline lowered cars, some shops won't do it

 

Yeah, some shops won't align my car... but mainly because they think it'll be too low to get up on the rack. They said they'd do it though if they could get it up. I think I'll just adjust the camber in a little bit.

My uncle is the main manager here at one of the monroes here... I b4 i brought my car up (coil overs) I would have to go to each side of the car and lift up on the fender well because he couldn't get the arms for the lift under my car. Needless to say about 2 times after doing that the car sits about 1" higher now.

Aligning is a good thing to do, but I don't think aligning will correct the problem for the most part. It makes more sense that it has to do with the height adjustment and the camber adjustment especially with the 205's.

Just from that, you should be able to tell what's goin' on. And that 205 makes that bit of a difference as it's reaching out further to the q-panel/wheel-well.

Also, with the new disk brakes, the hub could have changed your offset. Just an idea.

 

I got stock ride, 205/40/VR16 is perfectly fine. If your lowered this much, youll need some kind of camber kit, like a adjustable bar. Goodyear will do your car for 60$ unless u got 18s.

 

I have an adjustable camber kit. Aligning it should fix the problem.. because they have to adjust the camber to get it aligned correctly. They are able to do this now that I have adjustable upper control arms. I know why it's touching.. it's because yeah my car is low and since I corrected the camber somewhat it puts the tire closer to the quarter panel wall...

My only question was how do I fix this problem? Adjust the camber so the wheels are aligned. If this does not work, either get 195s, roll the fender, or grind the inside out some. I'd prefer not to **** with my body panels.. so if these are indeed too wide...which I doubt they are.. I'll just get 195's for the back.

lol, the number 195 doesn't indicate sidewall height. a 205mm wide tire on a 6.5" wide rim is perfect. different tires aren't needed.

 

He said the sidewalls were too WIDE. Not too high. Hehe. Thanks for the help.
