h22 head swap on f22a1
ive got a 93 prelude with a f22a1 block and an h23 head but have just bought a h22 full motor and need help with knowing whats involved in the swap and what things need to be done. any help would be greatly appreciated.
why would you wanna put the head off a FULL h22a onto ur F22? plan on boosting? just trying to clarify why you would do this for future reference and so you dont get flamed for not just putting the whole motor in.
the h22a1 has a bad rod kock and i bought the full motor for 900 and my car came wiht the f22 when i bought . the swap is done and was started last night. ran great but head gasket didnt seal worht **** and we dumped a lot of oil. Just wondering if anyone knows what head gasket would be used in this swap. Thanx
the reason you are leaking oil.is because you have to weld a piece into the side of your block and then channel the oil back down into the hole.i have done it with out any problems.you can weld either block or head.but i would do the block and you use the h22 head gasket and you have to use the lower timing gear and you will have to swap the water pullies, and it will work and look just like factory.im me if you need to know anything else about the swap.
Do you have any pics on what gets welded and re-routed?
What lower timing gear are you talking about, and what pulley do you swap to on the water pump?
I would be interested in learning more about this swap.

What do you have to weld onto the side of the block. i have just completed the swap and all you have to do is to block to oil return lines on the drivers side of the head that overhang the block. i used the f23 head gasket and everything is fine up to this point. i dont have the vtec hooked up yet but it has some *****. i had a 2.3 dohc head on the f22b block and i was pushing 186 hp. I know that this wont produce a hell of a lot more but this will open up a lot more options for me. By the way this is all in a prelude. i already switched the water pumps and the waterpipe but its easiest if you unbolt the driverside engine moount and lower the motor down a few inches to give up a lot more space for urself. By the way if you dont plug the oil holes you will have a large problem. you wont have very much oil left in the motor.
If anyone has anymore questions dont be afraid to ask.

hey how did u do the h23 to f22a1 swap, was it easy , if anyone knows please tell me and can u boost them with the dsm setups by redrillin some holes in the exhaust manifold, or just boost the f22a1 with the dsm trubo setup...because ive seen and heard about the dsm turbos boltin right up,,, i just want some opinions or suggestions? please thanks alot
I wanna see the dyno #'s of a h22 head on a f22 block. I know its lower compression but is perfect for a boost project. I have a f22 block sitting at my freinds house right now with a f22 tranny. I wanna get a h22 head and start a build. Boost + long f22 gears with dohc vtec(w/ stong *** block) would own.
hold tight and i will get you the dyno stats on the f22 wiht the h22a1 vtec. I did this on a f22b and its a euro accord r block so it might be different then your regular f22b1 or b2 block wiht the same head. im heading to the dyno wihtin the next few weeks and teh swap works and runs awesome. no problems and it goes like quite well. my friend has a jdm h22 in a 92 civic cx with true lsd and the works. he ran a 13.3 at the track consistantly and we ran on the street the other day and we were side by side untill 3rd where he pulled me for a few feet but then i caught him in fifth. so the f22 vtec performs quite well. thats wiht a stock bottom end and only your regular bolt on mods (cold air header plugs wires and a chipped computer). make sure that you change the injectors to the h22 ones or you will run the motor very lean when vtec engages.
