No, you aren't required to use their Short ram intake. IMHO, it's not worth the $200 they charge you. I'm using an OEM intake arm with my Icebox

It's doesn't come with the arm for $150, just the box.

did you buy it used off someone or did you know some?? cause they sell the ice box and the arm seperately. you can use your stock arm though, not sure about the gsr arm but you can use your stock LS and Type R arm.

wait then why does it say on the website:

Note these kits must be used with either the Comptech Intake Kit, or Comptech Air Filter Upgrade.

I think you have to use Comptech's filter regardless, a stock filter wouldn't work in it.

I personally have the stock arm and box, w/ a K&N inside and a tube running from the airbox down behind the turn signal, just like Comptech's box, all for about $40 including the filter.

They say that because they want you to buy their intake arm which is a rip off. As for the filter, I guess you're going to have to use either a K&N filter or the one they sale. For more info, there's a few threads on here that talk about using the icebox with your stock arm.

Oh yeah, there's an intake arm off ebay that someone over on teamintegra found that fits. look it up if you want a cheaper arm that gives you the same results.

The short ram and the Ice Box is NOT sold together. I switched over to a K&N filter since the Comptec foam fliter kinda sux, good filtration but it does not breath well. The AEM short ram is too long to fit inside the Ice Box so you will have to cut it to make it work. The other problem is that the K&N filter does not attach to the Ice Box like the Comptec one does (but to breath better I'll live with that).

Unless you live where it's REAL hot like AZ the air density difference is not that big. I take the top off of my Ice Box in the winter for better perfomance.
