Hey.

Painting my car and wanted to remove the sunroof seal and thought about removing my side back windows. What has to come off to get the sunroof seal off? I plan to reuse it. And as for the windows... Is the seal a part of the window or seperate? Is there any epoxy in between the seal and the body? Should I open this can of worms or not? Suggestions please...

I would simply cover it. Use blue painters tape and newspaper (if your doing it yourself) and spray everything else. No need to go to all that trouble.

 

Thats what Im leaning toward on the windows - but I really want the sunroof seal off if I can get it off without too much trouble. I think it would be a much cleaner finished project.
Anyone else know what it takes to get the sunroof seal off?

 

Not sure about the sunroof seal, but I do know that the rear side windows are epoxied. Had one of mine changed, so I got to see it come out. No fun, I'd stick to just removing the roof seal like you said. Someone aound here is sure to know how to get that seal off.

This dude RHD94 or something whatever posting on how he had put a glass 5th gen sunroof into a 4th gen made the comment (becuase someone asked how the seal was) that was like..the seal is apart of the panel, hence no removing it.

Dunno whether that pertains to the opaque panels of 4th gens or not however.

 

hmmm - I wonder if I totally remove the sunroof, if I will then be able to remove the seal. then paint it off of the car. I dont want any nasty *** tape lines.

Anyone have a write up on sunroof removal? I hate figuring out as I go!
