Any Downsides to going with a Multiprocess machine over seperate TIG and MIG machines?
I want to get a TIG machine but also need a new MIG so I figure a Multiprocess might do the trick. I was looking at Millers XMT 304 CC/CV or Lincoln's Power MIG 300 K1694-1, Both are right under the $3000 range. If anyone has input on either of these machines or other models or brands please post.

Usage for the Tig and Mig Machines will be mostly for light fabrication, Exhaust work, random projects.

Unless size and weight is an issue it should be fine imo

 

i would go with the multi machine if size isn't an issue, and I like miller better. i use both in the body shop

Yeah, just get a TIG.

 

Problem with the mig/tig combo's is they usually only do DC. Thats fine unless you ever plan to tig aluminum which will require AC. (Well, its not required but MUCH easier)

this isn't really true. you can get ac/dc multi process machines

 

is the Millers XMT 304 CC/CV a ac/dc or just a dc? (just curious)
