any knowledgable peeps with a Vortech 99-00 Si
Im kinda considering it for my FBP. I bought Skunk2 stg 2s but Im thinking of selling for a Vortech. Any bitches grips or complaints. Any good setups you guys recommend? I should have about 4gs to play with after I sell my other car and sell the cams. I was thinking about rims but IM like naaa. Speed would be better.
I have a friend with a vortech kit on his 99 si he ran a 14.5 stock exhaust/stock everything just the kit, its a nice kit for the people who don't want to try and break some records.
Good kit fresh out the box. Anything after the 12-15 psi mark will require dealing with belt slipping. Paynetech makes an 8rib set up thats nice but pricey. I use to have it on my em1. My only complaint was the lowend power. Other than that, the fitment was good and no real mechanical problems.
The kit "out of the box" runs like 9psi and the compressor is HUGE, so it's like strapping a giant turbo on a car and it never spools up. So the low end suffers from this as the vortech must be in high revs to be in the "friendly zone". But if you like messing around with it abit like SiRacer you can install a CRV pully and you'll get about 11psi at 8000rpm and much more bottom end than with 9psi on top.

As you see psi will follow rpm so more power on top, better bottom.
Hope this helps...
