Why is it or Why Does my engine Backfire?
Why is it or Why Does my engine Backfire? it sounds like it when im at idle and sometimes shift gears. just curious b/c right now it sounds and feels as if my motor is going to go since i dont know whats wrong wit it.
A backfire is typically caused by an overly-rich condition, which results in unburned fuel being passed into the exhaust, where it ignites due to heat.

you the man
, that is a good way to define backfire man,,,,
*here is some more issure
-backfire can happens when there is no muffler
-highlow cat w/out resonator
-piping is big
backfire happens when there is low backpressure with running fuel ratio is high and air ratior is low....you might want to get bigger CAI to compensate the unburned fuel left over, well to summarize u running over fuel you need more air to get more combustion
backfire ain't bad, some like cuz of its sound...they sound tightass though...
-they can give you 1 or 2 hp as result of pusshing force deduction out...i guess

It probably isn't even a backfire it is pop from back pressure. It can be caused by a larger than stock diameter exhaust system. I have an apex-i GT spec on my ls and that pops alot between shifts and when cruising at high rpms
