Default Question for you SC61 owners...

I'm just bored, and was kinda wondering...

Do you guys hear the turbo spool when running low boost?

I just remember running 10psi with my SC50 on my stock ZC and not being able to hear the turbo spool. I think it was because at that level of boost, the wheel just wasn't spinning very fast to make a loud spool noise. On the other hand, my old T-25 setup was loud as ****! It sounded like an F16 on take off.

When i run my sc61 at low boost ( wastegate at 7psi) i can't hear my turbo spool . But when i turn on the boost controller at 14 psi . I hear the turbo spool and it is loud . All this on a 84mm bore b16a2

I'm running 7 psi and I can't hear it at all. Just hear the open wastegate. From what I've gathered, the wheel just isn't turning fast enough at that boost level, so it makes no sound.

the t25 spun at a much higher rpm than your sc61, its all dependant on rpm of the shaft

Thats exactly what I've thought. All I heard with my old setup was the Dump as well.

I could tell exactly when I reached full boost because the tone, and intensity of the exhaust as the dump opened would change drastically.

same thing here... except on a 77mm d16. as geoff said i'm sure it has to do with the speed at which it's spinnign

What size turbine, and what motor do you have?

I was using a .63ar on a stock internal ZC So this turbo never did spin very fast.

The smaller the motor, the slower the turbo will need to spin to create boost.

I could hear it when it was on the dyno but when driving all I can hear is my exhaust.
