Default Distributor

92-96 OBD1 JDM H22 PRELUDE Ignition Distributor

or would a

92-96 OBD1 H22 H23 PRELUDE (ext. coil) Distributor (USDM)

would work for a jdm h22a engine?

i know it seems like the 1st one would work 100%, but i was wondering if the 2nd one would.. saves me some $$

The JDM H22A is in fact OBD1 like you said and therefore requires the OBD1 (int. coil) distributor. I've never heard of using the other distributor but I'm sure it could be done.

you can rewire a internal coil back into the JDM distributor but......why do that when you can just add a msd blaster coil....

if you cant find a JDM H22 distributor then use the H23 one and wire up a msd blaster coil.

im not sure if the others answered your question or not, because im a little confused. Are you asking if a usdm will work with a JDM h22? or are you just asking where to get a replacement JDM distributor for a H22?

If are putting an JDM h22 into your lude ( i assume your talking about a lude ) you can use a external coil distributor from a usdm h23 or h22. If you are re-using the engine harness that came with the car.

If you are asking where to find a internal coil to replace your current jdm distributor you can also try looking on ebay.

Why would you use a JDM internal coil dist? You want to use a USDM distributor or you will have to rewire and there is no guarantee it wuill even work properly

well.. i need the car really soon.. like tomrorow because i have school in the afternoon, so idecided to go with the mechanic, he says there are 30 different distributors for the engine, and he nees to know the year, i think the h22a that i have is either a 93or a 94, but then he said he cant find the right distributor, so he ordered one, and it is should be all done by tomrorow morning, what im afraid is, that he is jacking my parts from my car.. because it is the frist time ive been to this mechanic.. should i be worried about mechanics jacking parts from my car?

he doesnt seem shady, but you can never be too sure.. has anyone had any expereinces with mechanics doing shady work?

thanks

and hes had my car since yesterday which kinda worries me

Well I know when I replaced the cap on my JDM H22 dist., it called for a GS-R cap, so you might want to check up on that and see if the USDM GS-R dist. will bolt up. You may have to change the connectors, but poopin pins are easy...

after hearing what people had to say.. im still yet confused..

i have a jdm h22a engine in my car.. and i need a new distributor.. some peopel say

the 92-96 OBD1 JDM H22 PRELUDE Ignition Distributor will work.. but some people say the 92-96 OBD1 H22 H23 PRELUDE (ext. coil) Distributor (USDM) would work.

which one is easier to install? and which one is gauranteed to work on a jdm h22a?

sorry if this is like a repost.. but i ahve to order now

well, other than its should really be 92-95 they are both correct. but the easiest one you can use is the distributor from a USDM h22 or a h23 as long as its the external coil (which is any sold in the us). Unless your vehicle has already been re-wired for the internal coil (JDM sytle).

what year is your car? is it a prelude? what engine did it have in it?
