i have a very weird problem with my motor i dunno if its just mee or wat
but its that during the day or when ever it is hot while im driving if i shift it in to neutral and let the rpms drop to idle the car bogs down to like 600 rpm then shakes like it wants to die
but when im regularly driving like crusing or when it is the night time it feels like its running like a champ?????

the problem only occurs durring idle!??!?!

anyone know what the problem could be i mean my motor is healthy as **** except for this problem its a d15b7 with 140,000+ miles yea i know its a sohc i dont care it does the job but yea any help me???

hey man the summer heat and sun will make ur car idle like crap, my 1999 si does it too. it gets to about 5-600 rpms and shakes a lil when at a light but dont worry everyone here has the same problem, it wont die or anything its just the heat! ive heard of peoples cars idling at 100rpms lol

 

what kind of intake you got??
You might want to clean it , if dirty!!
or...it just time for a tune-up

i just surviced the motor (oil change, vavle adjustment, and tranny fluid even cleaned the intake)

hey you guys! I also have a problem similiar to that.
When I start my car (when cold) It goes down to like 600 rpms and wants to die. It recently started doing that. It has new spark plugs, did an oil change, and put in a new radiator. My motor is a D15B2...
you guys really think its the heat? lol

Hot air isn't as dense as cold air, which explains why it idles differently. Adjust the idle during the hotter months if it bothers you.

 

my friend has the same problem but opposite.
if its hot then it runs like a champ but when its a cold start up his motor won't stay on but after it warms up it's fine lol

 

And this helps how? Did your friend fix his problem?

 

hey again... so this morning, i went to leave to skool... but my car started acting up... (I STILL HAVENT CLEAN THE IACV OR THE TB BECUZ I HAVENT FOUND IT YET ON MY DUAL POINT MANIFOLD LOL) it was still idling low and an excessive amount of white smoke was puttering out from the exhaust.(I know the engine is cold, but I know what the smoke looks like when its cold) and this was ALOT of smoke and the smoke had a very very foul smell to it... any ideas... maybe its a blown head gasket idk? haha thanks a bunch guys sorry for bugging :/

 

It may just be a TPS or PCV valve(the latter was my problem)??
