Default spark plugs are black

So i took my crx to do a smoge test and failed it. not by much though. So i gave my car the basic tune up changed oil, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs and wires. when i took out the spark plugs for cylinder 2 and 4 they were real black and had a lot of suet on them. so i figured there was oil geting passed the rings. this happend on friday. Well i took the car in today to see if the tune up helped at all but it didnt. still failed. any ways i got home and took out the spark plugs to give it a compression check and the same plugs, 2 and 4 were really dark again they were black but the ones from 1 and 3 are still looking new. i gave it a compression check and the rings are stilll good all of them are around 150 this is a stock d16a6 motor. What can be causing the plugs to get that black in just two days.

If theyre black black they could be fouling. Possibly running too rich, either try some injector cleaner or if your mechanically inclined switch your injectors around, and see what you get, narrow it down to see if its the cylinders or the injectors. Just because you got good comp numbers doesnt mean you cant be burning oil in those cyls. Also what heat range plug are you using? If theyre higher than 7 that may be another thing.

can you run rich in just two cylinders? i though if you ran rich it was in all four. as for the heat range i have no idea. there the basic densos that you get at autozone

Yes you can run rich/lean in different cyls, your pump runs the same psi of fuel to your injectors but not all of your injectors flow at exactly the same rate (unless you recently had them cleaned and balanced), so if you have 1 or 2 flowing slightly more or less it can cause said problem. Especially if you get a stuck injector, one whos duty cycle doesnt end and just constantly pushes out fuel, but this usually results in black smoke out of your tailpipe. Give the cleaner a try but it'll take a full tank to get through, or swap the injectors and try some new plugs. I recomend NGK's from honda, they'll give you right heat range.

If it doesnt work then swap the injectors, if the plugs still come out black in the same cyls then your burning oil. Good luck.
