Can anyone tell me why my lude is running like it is? details inclosed...
hey everyone,
About a week ago i bought a 93 prelude vtec with about 190000 miles on it. The guy who sold it thought it needed a valve job but the valves ended up being too tight on one cylinder. Now the car runs good while its cold but as soon as it warms up, it starts to sputter and act like its runnin on three cylinders or something. When the fan comes on in the engine compartment, the engine smooths out and runs like a sewing machine.. i really have no idea what im doin with imports so any help is appreciated. if anyone wants any more info please ask. thanks guys

So when the car gets to operating temp it runs like ****. Then you turn on the heater fan and it runs perfect? Is that what your are saing??
If so is the engine overheating??

Well the engine isnt really running that badly when its knockin but its definitly not right. i htink it might be a sensor prob. does that sound right to you? if it doesnt what do you think it might be? thanks
i have no idea what cel is. sorry. its not really knocking but it jsut sputters. ill have somebody sit and tell me when the fan comes on and ill be sittin behind the tailpipe and everything will smooth out then the fan will go off and everything will start running badly again. its not that bad tho. it sill performs ok but not as good as it should.
CEL = Check Engine Light.
Few things I would check would be your plugs, wires, distributor cap/rotor. Compression and timing.

well i dont have the cel all the time but after a while it will come on. it stayed off for a while longer after i went in and cleaned all the carbon and stuf outta the o2 sensor. i already checked the compression and it was fine. havent checked anything else tho. thanks.
Check the CEL to see what you are getting for a code. sorry I dont have time to find the link to show you how to check the code. But I'm sure if you search on here you can find it. That should help you out a lot.
