turbo on a f23a1 is it tough enough to have
i have a question i was talking to one of the guys i work with and he says that a f23a1 accord engine is not tough enough to bolt on a turbo. but im thinking diffrent cause if you rebuild your engine and lower the compression it should be fine. what d o you think?
do a compression check to see if everything is cool with your stock internals. if everything is good then i would think you could 7psi on the stock internals. that would be more than enough to have some fun. i havn't looked into the f23 specs too much, but i bet its pretty much like the f22. the f22 can take up to 10psi stock and run perfectly fine. some people have run...i think 14psi for a period of time. at 7 psi most engines will be alright if you have the PROPER tuning and fuel management. that is the most important part....always remember that! your f23 will be perfectly fine with..lets say a drag kit. id dump the FMU and go for a hondata, or if you had the money an EMS. uberdata is a nice alternative if you have a wideband and some free time. do some research on the FMU....a lot of people have been running them for i guess years, but i personally would feel safer with an FMU. building the engine will have to be done sooner or later, but if you treat the care with respect...and drive like a normal person...then it should last you a good while if you dont give it some hellaboost. a strong bottom end never hurts, not even for 7psi.
with whatever you to good luck

i kicked my resonator box off my intake...well after i broke it. other than that nothing. i have a spare f22 block that im gonng build up for a turbo. i may just strap a turbo onto my current f22 for a while until i can afford the Benson resleeve for the other block. my engine has 195k on it, but has perfect compression...so what the hell. as of now, i have some crower rods for it, and im in the process of getting some arias pistons @ 86mm. i really dont wanna bore out anymore than i have to, but i might get a good deal on them. i would prefer to get the block resleeved...i mean while its out....i might as well get everything done to it. id like to play with uberdata...so ill probably go with that for engine management. if all else fails i may just buy my friends EFI thingy off of him (the name escapes me...im tired...weekend at wild adventures in valdosta
). but thats basically whats planned. right now i have a project going on that i think some peoples would be interested in...but until i can get a prototype going im not gonna say much.

Mine blew, but it was my fault. Head gasket let go. Thats what you get when running 15 psi on stock head studs and having a coolant leak from the head gasket that I never fixed. O'well. Engine will be back in the car in about 3-4 weeks. Ready to go this time cometinc head gasket and ARP studs. Not going to chance it this time. Also the motor is built.
