A/C Help for 90 EX Coupe
Ok guys, here's my problem...
Either my A/C compressor or the compressor clutch is shot. Not locked-up yet, but making a terrible racket. Just as a TEMPORARY fix, I want to just bypass the compressor by removing the belt. Problem is, as I'm sure you know, the A/C Compressor and alternator are operated by the same belt. Can I buy a shorter belt and leave the compressor in place for the time being, or will this create clearance issues? Also... anyone have any idea what shorter belt I could use??? Thanx in advance!!!

Get a string or something and wrap it around every pulley you want to keep and tie it off at the correct length. Then go up to PepBoys or wherever with that string and the old belt and tell them you want that particular rib pattern from the old belt but in the length of the string. They will look at the pattern and measure the string and give you a belt. Took them about 2 minutes when I removed A/C and P/S from my H22.
