apache air filter for turbo
my friend who used to be in the army got me a 4" k&n filter which is made for an apache so i was wondering will it work on a sc61 S. or its better off i get one thats made for a turbo.
a filter is a filter. if it fits, and doesn't rob boost pressure, then use it. It's easy to find out. Make one run with filter, make one run without. Was the boost pressure the same? then it's fine.

hmmm, apache and air filter dont go together, an air filter big enough to meet the requirements of that turbine would be massive. Think back to the Y2K Streetbike, powered by a rolls royce turbine, they caculated that the airfilter would have to have something along the lines of two feet of surface area to filter the air and not choke the motor. So they just stuck a 1/4 mesh screen over the turbine inlet to keep out large items.

If I am not mistaken, the filter protects the inlet of the APU (Aux Power Unit) which in essence is a small turbine generator, which most jet aircraft have, but is more vulnerable to the talc-like sand of the middle east...
