Default Turbo B17, is this strong enough for big boost?

I have a built b17 and I want to know if it is strong enough for high boost. My biggest concern is that it IS NOT sleeved...

B17a1
Arias Pistons
Crowler Rods
PYR Aluminum Racing Head with full PnP
Chevy Big Block Valve Springs with Ti Retainers

Its got a copper headgasket and it o-ringed and sealed for boost, whatever that means...

Thanks!

Should do pretty well actually. Just keep the power levels within reason and don't get too greedy.

I was actually planning on running like 15-20psi MAX and like 6psi daily. I think more then 6psi and ill kill myself (never driven really fast car). Oh yeah, compression has been lowered to 8.5:1 as well...

Set a power goal and work towards that. Psi on a T4 is a lot different than 6psi on a T25.

you might have problems holding ~20psi off a .45bar spring. the general rule of thumb is not to double your spring's level. Honestly theres no reason why you coulnd't drive it @ 325-350whp daily and 400-450whp @ the track...as long as your setup is good and tuning is up to par.

I will be interested to see what you decide to do to make the engine tunable. I hope you don't make such a modern engine OBDI.

that engine should hold up pretty well and you could runs 10 psi safe for daily for sure and maybe even 15 daily and you can raise it up to 20 at the track but youll be good at 15 psi daily and have around 300-400 hp.

Should hold up just like any B series motor. About 20 psi with stock sleeves. Same as a b16 just longer stroke. good luck

awesome thanks for all the great input. I think im going to get an LS tranny and a greddy turbo kit with the emanage computer, then upgrade to hondata when i get the cash. Do you think a GReddy kit will go to 20psi? My goal is to run between 11-12sec 1/4mi... realistic?

yeah your goal is realistic.. Put some slicks on your ride and have around 300ish whp and you'll make 12's prolly even 11's

I don't think you can boost 20psi on the 15G. You will need a 20G to do that.

you can boost 20psi on any turbo i'm not saying it will be effecient but it will do it

To the creater of this thread i woudln't be worried to much about the block being not sleeved, i know a few cars taht have run 10's and are not sleeved, one ran a 10.19 hes on this board (brian ballard, xxxracing), people don't give honda sleeves enough credit its all in the tune man good luck with your set up let us know some #'s when you done

Glad to see another Boosted17..... I miss mine. I had one for 6 months on 10psi with a sc34 turbo. stock motor. Never had it tuned or dynoed. i had the vafc hax with it and 450cc injectors. Dont set your goal by psi do it by whp. how much you want out of it. you can pull 300 out of your setup EASY.. I was going to build my B17a motor but parts were rare and cost a little more.. let us see the dyno chart if you dyno it.

Wow this is all really good stuff..

Yeah if I 15g turbo is ging to have probelms then ill get a bigger turbo. I got half a turbo kit with the engine (IC piping with BOV flange welded, T3 cast mani, oil pan already tapped for turbo. SO All I really need to get is a good turbo and IC, along with a BOV and external wastegate.

I am gonna get some numbers asap. I had a lot fo questions on getting this thing into my civic, I made another post in the teg forum but only got one reply. I was unaware that I could use the teg axles in my EG, this saves me some cash cause I though I needed hasport axles. Also, will I need the p72 ecu or will I be using the p28? I didnt get the wiring harness with the engine cause the teg harness combines the intrior and engine harness into one big mess of wires, whereas my eg has all the engine harness seperate from the dash harness. So my questions is what ecu should i run and what do i need to run it? Hasport subharness?

Thanks again fellas

Argh,

I just went out and took a look at her, its been tarped outside for about 6months.
Concerns:

1. There was a good bit of water in one fo the spark plug holes, although im pretty sure one got into the cylinder chamber, should I be concerned?

* I mopped up all the water in the hole and then removeds the spark plug and there was no water on the piston

2. After I had reinstalled all the plugs I turned the crank and although there is pressure build up and you can here it being compressed, it seems like it is a little too easy to turn it over with the plugs in. If I recall correctly it should be nearly impossible to turn it over with the sparks in? Should I ge tthe piston rings checked? I know the compression is lowered to that would make it easier to turn over, but it seems too easy....

Anyway if you could answer that for me I would really appreaciate it, right now it is outside air drying in the MD sun... and then tomorrow im puttin it in the shed before i go to school, should i spray wd40 or something on the inside of the head to prevent corrosion b4 storage?

Thank...

With that out of the way, eyecandy:

It's not a V-8. I can turn my engine over with a wrench on one of the cam sprockets and it has 10:1 compression.

it was out of a 92GSR. I am getting it ready to put in an eg and heres my list of what i need to do so far, please help me add to it.:

Run a drop of oil along cylinder walls and turn over a few cranks to prep engine for storage in shed for a few months until I can purchase these things needed to drop it in:

94+ Teg Motor Mounts
94+ Teg Axles
94+ Teg LS Hydro Tranny
Some turbo stuff (FMIC, T3, BOV, and Wastegate)

Then some tuning with Hondata hopefully and it should be running like a scalded monkey, am i right?

This will be a daily driver so im gonna run 6psi around town and hope it will be reliabe
