Idle surge, tryed everything...HELP!!!!!!!!
I got a gsr swap in my 93 civic and it has a pretty bad idle surge from like 700 rpms to 1500 rpms. I tried messing with the TPS, IACV and fast idle valve, checked for vacuum leaks and everything and it still does it. Im completeley lost on what to check now. Anyone have any ideas? it doesnt have an o2 sensor, but i have a uberdata chip with it removed.
You most likely have an air leak somewhere in the inlet.
Your IACV is shutting completely to try and compensate, then letting go, which causes the "pulsing idle". Disconnect the IACV and the car should stay at a constant high idle speed. If it does then its an air leak somewhere for definite. Usually its a leaky gasket or disconnected/split vacuum line somewhere.
Hope this helps.
To check your fast idle valve: With the IACV disconnected and the engine warm, put your finger over the hole (there are two of them) inside the throttle body that feeds the fast idle valve and see if the revs drop to normal. If this is the case, then you have a faulty fast idle valve.

i tried cleaning the IACV.... still surges
did the FITV adjustment still surges, when i disconnect the IACV and plug the 2 holes it just has a really rough stumbly idle like the iacv is diconnected, so it wasnt that, and i cant seem to find any vacuum or air leaks,so i am still confused.

when i spray starting fluid around the area where the throttle spring is it bogs it down really bad, could air be leaking into there causing the surge?
