Default VA Safety Insp.

Does anyone know where I can get my car passed in NOVA having 20% tints on my car.
Also what percentage are the factory tints on SUV's and minivans?

I've never had anyone give me crap for having dark tint. Unless they're just strict or they're being ******** it shouldn't be a problem....not in SW VA anyway.

I have 20% and was wondering the same thing when I first got my car tinted. I asked a local mechanic at a Exon about the tint and he said they dont care how tinted a car is, during a saftey inspection. I was also told by a cop that tint isn't checked atsafety inspections.

Hope this helps

hmm, which place did u go to? I haven't got my car inspected ever since I got the tint. However, Right before getting the tint done, I went to an Exon by Sydenstricker road, and the guy there said he doesn't care how dark the tint is. The exon guy told me that the only hassle I would have with 20% tint is getting pulled over by the cops.

Needless to say, I got a medical exemption from my doctor that lets me get around any problems I have with the cops.

Hmm, try going to a exxon or mobil gas station for you safety inspection instead.

try this link http://map.exxonstations.com/locator.asp

type in your address, and it will give you the closest exxon/mobil gas stations in your area. The matches will then have webpages for each station, provided with contact information via email and telephone number. Go ahead and email each station regarding the illegal tint and safety inspections.

va inspection doesnt check window tint. but if you had it on your windsheild then they would fail you. only allowed to have tint to the asi line. its like 3" on windsheild. a good place to get the car inspected is route1 automotive. there fast and nice.

then why did the guy say he would have to see it. And i hear that they can measure it. Then whats with the 35% law. I'm confused here. Then why can safety inspections fail you for tints?

Would I be okay with 20%
