On cast iron parts I have always used POR-20 and have always loved it. The most important thing is to clean the parts perfectly. Restomotive laboratories, the company that makes POR-15 and POR-20, also makes a great product called Metal-Ready that prepares metal right by cleaning off everything and leaving a thin zinc coating.
