I get a banging sound out of my steering column when turning but it isn't caused by the tie rods because i took the tire off and tried to recreate the sound by hand but i couldn't so I turned the wheel and listened under the hood and it sounds like it is coming from where the steering column connects into the steering rack. What could be causing that sound? Then there is a banging sound coming from my firewall area and it only happens apon taking off and letting off the gass while in gear. I though it was the motor mount but when i looked at it with a flash light it looked as if it was fine. Could it still be that and i just can't tell while it os on the car? I need help...

 

Sounds like a bad axle or something....are your CV boots torn?

 

No the axles are only about 2,000 miles old...anything else it may be?
