My B18C5. I need Help/Advice
Hey guys, I need your honest help/Advice.
I just did a 2000 JDM B18c5 swap into a civic 4dr LX. This was the ultimate sleeper of all (14.4s quarter mile), I was handing down *** wooping's to v8's and representing the civics. It was shock and awe when my ugly *** rice looking LX opened up on people.

Anyway, I its been only 2 months, and I got T-boned one night at an intersection by a maxima, while looking for directions to some kids house.
Its really messed up cause I didnt' get insurance coverage (really long story, accident was not in my favor, nor do I have full coverage). I had a whole full body kit I wanted to mount + new paint Job. I got tired of the whole sleeper thing, I wanted to get chicks now. Thank God, I didn't do all that b4 accident
I tried to fix the car (after spending parts+labor $900 from junkyard), but it looks like the frame has damage, cause the left wheel was closer to the well, driving to the side, rubbing wall, The guy said I should try alignment, another $80 dollar test, and try to see if chaning the lower control arm will make difference, another $100 or so risk, thats how I started and spent $900 already. Besides, I wont even wanna do paint job/bodykit on that car anymore, and I'm scared of going V-tech on that car/chirping gears for fear that the whole thing will just break apart) so I'm looking for another route to go. I was thinking of the following options. (I'm looking for looks + running hard + saving money)
1. Get a civic 95 coupe, swap ITR motor in, run hard, sell coupe motor, sell my 4dr lx shell for parts(I dont think I can sell the whole car since it has frame damage)
2. Get a civic 96-98spec hatch, swap motor, do same above
3. Get another 4dr(hell no. The first for door I got was a mistake, I didn't know anything about tuning then, but I had no money to change cars) Besides it was not doing justice to the ITR motor, although it ran hard(14.4) for its weight.
Which of the above cars will come out best when done, i.e bodykit + paintjob + ITR motor
I dunno, I'm so confused... Thanks for reading my long story, tell me what u think.
I'll post more pics tomorrow.

Whats the easiest way/place to pick up a hatch (obviously without getting crappy shell that will cost me later but also without spending more than necessary), I'm thinking some car dealer somewhere, or forums, but its like I need a car to move on badly.

WOW, I didn't realize there was such an engine? JDM B18c5? it's one or the other not both
. Go with the hatch if you care about weight and racing. But here's what i don't get. If you like the 4dr or the coupe or even the hatch, get the one you like the best. I've seen some 4drs that look a million times better than hatches and vice versa. If speed is a factor get a turbo kit with all that money you were ganna spend on a body kit and paint and have an 11 or 12 second car. no problem. either way your car well look fresh if you avoid the body kits and weird rims IMO.

Thanks for the advice, good taught on ur analysis. Me personally I think (92-95)coupes are the best platform. i.e medium weight for speed. good chasis for looks.
4drs are harder to make look good I think. On the other hand hatches are are really good for speed, looks too. But some times they look kinda tiny small things running around.( I love em though, the 96-98 spec, I think is the best). The new si (2003 i think) shell is ugly as crap I think(to me). They should spank the guys that designed that thing.
Emm back to my story, in the current year we are, which shell is cheaper, 92-95 coupe or 96-98 hatch. Does anyone know if those 96-98 hatches come with pwr windows?
I didn't understand what u asked on "JDM B18C5". It just means type R jdm spec. i.e type R from japan.

Hey bro, keep your head up ok. They're beatin' you down in here (I don't even think you know it). First of all, The JDM Type R motor is the B18c (like mine). There is no "5" on the stamp. Only for the USDM motor. Check your engine, and see what the stamp says so you don't go around saying you have a JDM motor if you don't. And second, i'm not to sure if these cars help you get chicks. My girl hates my car cuz I spend more on my hybrid than I do on her. But always remember, your car will always love you unconditionally, and it will always be there for you, and try it's best please you. Can't say that about most girls.
Anyways enough w/ that, figure out what kind of motor you have, get a hatch, drive hard, and spell VTEC with a "C" Goodluck dexy

The 92-95 coupe is probably going to be cheaper than a 96-98 Hatch, but you can find a decent 96-98 hatch if you look long and hard enough. No, 96-00 Hatches did not come with power windows, but you can get the ex/si power windows and floor harness, and through them in.
The JDM Type R motor does not have a 5 at the end of B18C, as goes for all JDM motors. If your motor says B18C5 stamped on the block it's not JDM, it's USDM, or from another country that stamped numers at the end.

Interesting, you are right its B18C on the block. Another thing I've learned today

So you think putting a body kit on your civic is going to get you chicks? Good luck with that
.
Anyhow, getting a hatchback would be your best bet as far as looks and performance are concerned. An EK would be my preference, although an EG is even lighter. Too bad the 92-95 chassis hatches are getting so hard to find without rust or damage or 250k miles like mine
. Regardless, check out eBay and your local paper for shells and/or complete packages. I would usually suggest trying to buy one off another member of this site, but they're impervious to low-balling and, since they're enthusiasts, they're usually in no hurry to sell them.
Good luck on your journey.
