forgot to put outer tbelt guide when installing oil pump...will it be ok?
I forgot to reinstall the outer ring that keeps the timing belt from sliding into the crank pully. My timing belt now slides over about 1/4 inch off the cam gears. Will I be ok or should I put that ring back on. By the way, its going to be a major pita. The crank pully bolt will come right off but the stupid pully had to be forced onto the crank
not quite sure which ring washer youre talking about, but when i messed up the two butterfly washers, the timing belt started drifting and burning through the plastic cover. any longer and it would not have been "recoverable", im not talking about the belt, i mean being able to save the engine.
yeah, i can hear it rubing. I better try to fix it.
The outer ring I am refering to is placed between the timing belt and the crank pully. there is one on the inside also. It is between the timing belt and the oil pump

yeah, then thats the one i messed up too. it cannot be driven. my timing belt plastic cover was cut in a matter of minutes. the washers are labelled very specifically in the helms, apparently for good reason.
btw, i know the feeling of not wanting to do it all over again. i think i was at hour 30 of a 36 hour straight working session (no sleeping breaks) at this point when i thought i was finished and found out i made a mistake too.
(boy, college was fun...)
