Which transmission should i go with?
im about to buy the 1st gen b16a and gonna build it up with some goodies to make it go fast.
now i want to know which transmission you guys perfer. i look up the gear ratio on a y1 tranny and compared it to my y21 tranny that i currently use daily. the y1 has short gears than the y21. i like my y21 cuz i like how its set up for me in the long run and 1/4. i beat a stock 346 automatic camero SS on a roll,
. and beat hatches w/ a b18c in the 1/4. but i didnt beat a type r yet that **** walked all over me. then i notice that hmotorsonline has s1, y1, j1, and ys1 tranny to select. which one can match up like my y21 tranny?

well i got a EG6 now and just bought a crx very very cheap. i was gonna buy a sirII motor but its much cheaper to buy a sirI. and theres like 4 trannys to select from. i like the sirII tranny y21 cuz the specs are almost as close as the type r. i just want to know what tranny is more perferable. i looked up the y1 tranny and realize it has short gears than any tranny in the b series family. and i cant seem to find the specs for the other cable trannys except for the y1.
You can use the search function to find threads like this:

- IMHO, the JDM YS1 would be the best choice. Getting parts for the Y1 can be expensive & time consuming.

Out of the small spline b-series trans, I prefer the y1 over the jdm s1/j1.
The s1/j1s first gears start verrry low, making 1st pretty much useless.
The y1 has very close gears, but a 4.266 final drive. 1st gear starts fairly
"high", making it easier to launch imo. Very nice tranny.
Of course, if you can get your hands on a ys1, then definatly go that route.
ys1 has practically the same internals as the hydro trannies, so you have more
choices if you want to build yourself a killer hybrid trans.
