DA suspension recomendations
I bought a used set of coil overs (Intrax maybe) and had them installed a couple years ago on my OEM struts in my 92 Integra 4-door. The ride was firm, but not too bad. Lately (since I put 17's on), I've really noticed how bad my car rides. It's almost painful, and feels like the car is comming off the ground on harsh bumps. I realize that the 40 series tires I'm running now are a big part of the harsh ride, but can't be the only reason. I wanted to see if anyone had any recomendations for new struts. Would I be better off going to a drop coil and ditching the coil-overs? Does anyone make springs with a decent drop 2.5"-3"? My car handles great at the moment, so I don't want to lose that, but don't want to knock my teeth out everytime I hit a bump. I don't mind a firm ride, just not one that requires wearing a kidney belt.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
i have tokico blue shocks(non-adjustable) on my da and i don't like them at all. If you want to go with a good shock, go with something adjustable, like tokico illuminas or kyb agx shocks/struts. I'm running tein s-tech springs and that's a 2" drop but if you want a bigger drop i would definetly reccomend adjustables so you can make them stiffer, therefore not bottoming out on things. just my 2 cents.
I've got a 91 setup with the Tein basic damper/coilovers. They don't have adjustable dampers but the ride height is adjustable. I looked into the mix and match but overall I spent a little more for the Tein and they were made to work together. Awsome ride even if dropped all the way.
Yea I'm running generic coilovers and I know what you mean about the kidney belt. I was looking into Illumina's / S-Techs, but that's only a 2 in. drop. You could also go with something better like omnipower or ground control... but I have no experience with those.
Here's Teins specs http://www.tein.com/ti/a32.html
Looks like the max drop is a bit more than 3" (on the basics)
I've got mine set to around 2", no kidney belt required...

hey me 2
i matched her up with a set of illumina's. im just goin to get smaller rims w/ more tire, and im set. i hate 17's now. the look good from far away, but im out of the all show no go business.
also i love the setup. it works very good for me, for a daily driver, and takin a corner at 35-45 occasionally
you got any pics of your's? heres mine...

p.s. this is the same day install picture, so it's not settled all the way yet. now she looks like a champ

I wouldnt recommend coilover sleeves. I've had generic ones with stock shocks on my 98 civic and I now have Tokico blues and skunk2 coilovers in my 91 DA. I would either recommend good lowering springs with Tokico Illuminas, kyb AGX, or blisten shocks. Or if you have the money, save up for a real set of coilovers. I noticed no matter what brand of sleeves and good shocks weather its brand name or generic, the ride is crappy. I mean its better than stock shocks but it still rides hard.

That's the truth right there... and I'm a living example. Which sucks. Get the good stuff!
