Default compressions affect on timing?

ok im wondering with more compression do u need more timing? Say i have a gsr motor sleeved to 84mm and 9:1 compression. For break in while the motor is still N/A would i need to retard timing? So if I make a base map from the stock gsr map would i wanna take out some timing throughout the whole ignition map?

thanks

the stock timing map is ok since you lowered the compression and that you are N/A, for boost aplication most lowered it.

A good rule of thumb:
If you replaced/expanded/etc anything internal, your timing has changed.

do you guys have any good tips on tuning timing. Other than just listen for knock is there anyway to just set timing at like a known safe point or do you have to use the dyno graph and look at the power and torque curves. thanks for the help guys

Each and every engine is different and a degree or two is the difference between good or bad. I'd make a few calls to Honda shops that are running a very similair setup (or identical) to yours and using that with a bit of guess-timation.

If you have acess to a dyno, you can set it within a few minutes.

PS. They DO make internal chamber detonations sensors, but the last time I checked the complete kit was somewhere around $5k-$7K...
