Default Brake Rotor Replacement Problem, the do it yourself kind.

My brake pad has worn completely out, as a result i need to get the rotors machined, and new pads put on, i started work on the one side did everything, but i can't get the big huge bolt thing off in the middle (axle bolt i think), i rented this huge axle socket thing, but it won't budge, anyone else ever done this, how does it come off is there a trick?, what's up with that pin thing in the middle is it a lock?? someone help, i'm trying to save money, but please help

yes it is a lock, just use a flat head screw driver and pry it out, and you will probably need some type of torque bar or breaker bar or a fairly strong air gun to get it off

i had one of those torque bars or leverage bars, and still couldn't turn it.

well it will most likely turn a bit easier if you take the lock out first...

i had the same problem the rotors up front for your accord were installed differntly from honda, they tried to cool the rotors better with this but they found out that it didnt make a diff so they went back to the old style there is alot you have to do to get them off. i got a price and the shop told me $240 to replace the rotors. i have a 95 ex samething it is a bit*h to get off so i just replaced the pads myself and took it to a shop and had the rotors cut while they were on the car. it can be done.

Find PB Blaster. The stuff rocks for frozen parts. I would spray it a few times then try. Good luck!
