I remove that tray that flips down (3 screws), the plastic piece that covers the fuses, and i also remove the hood release latch (2 10 mm bolts). 10 mm wrench removes the main relay.

I got an 88. Yours should be similar.

Are you getting a new one or repairing it?

yea i did it all w/o removing anything but the coin tray...time consuming tho until i borrowed a neighbours small socket wrench.... I bought a new one for $75(cad) @ my honda dealership, i will probably repair the old one tho in case i need to swap again.

when you repair them can you just heat up the solder to fill in the dry joints?
Is desoldering really necessary?

What problems lead you to the main relay? I'm having trouble with my gauges going wild with blinkers on, and more wild with lights/brights on and a blinker.

from what i 've gathered you can just re-heat the solder...and add more if necessary to repair it....Spuratic starting, espically when it was warm led me to the main relay...it would sometimes not start 1st time of the day when it was warm out, sometimes it wouldn't start after shutting it off for just a bit, to run into a store or something, as well.
